Hands up if you’d like a unique present idea to give to your child’s teacher at the end of the school year? These easy DIY gifts that children can make are the perfect solution.

1) Flower power: make a blooming beautiful plant pot!

What you’ll need: small terracotta plant pot, black paint, yellow paint, black marker pen, white chalk

1. Ask your child to paint a terracotta pot black with a yellow rim.

2. When it’s dry, help them add black ruler markings and numbers with a marker pen to make the yellow rim look like a ruler.

3. Now your child can draw or write a sweet message with chalk. For a gold star, pop a small plant in the pot too.

2) Teacher treat: show the love with biscuits.

Have a go at these homemade jammy dodgers from Waitrose. Or buy biscuits and icing pens so your child can personalise biscuits for their teacher.

Love baking? These nostalgic treats make a great gift.

3) Time for tea: make a personalised alphabet mug!

What you’ll need: a white mug, coloured marker pens

What to do:

1. Help your child decorate the mug with their teacher’s initial and name. Don’t forget, kids should wear overalls and cover furnishings when using marker pens.
2. Fill the mug with chocolates, if you like!

4) A flying start: perfect for little kids. Turn a footprint into a butterfly card!

What you’ll need: paint, card, pen, glue

What to do:

1. Help your child cover their right foot in paint and stamp a footprint on the left-hand side of the card.
2. Repeat with the other side (make sure the footprints meet in the middle).
3. Cut a little butterfly body out of card. Your child can stick it in the middle of the wings.
4. Write their name on the body and then let them draw or write a message on the back of the card to their favourite teacher!

5) Picture perfect: craft a fabulous frame for a special teacher.

What you’ll need: a picture frame cut out of card, silver foil or aluminium tape, decorative items like gems or buttons, glue

What to do:

1. Help your child cut out a frame from cardboard.
2. Now, they cover it in silver foil.
3. Then decorate however they like – we used gems.
4. Stick a sweet drawing or photo into the frame for extra marks!
