Funny 5 minutes

Get into the April Fool’s Day spirit with these 5 funny activities!

Written by Daniella Wills

Just because you’re a parent, doesn’t mean you have to be serious and boring ALL THE TIME! One of the best things about having a kid is that you can let your inner child out to play too.

OK, so maybe the ‘clingfilm on the toilet seat’ prank can wait another year (especially if your little one has yet to master toilet-training!), but don’t let this April Fool’s Day go to waste!

Below are a few instant ideas that your little one can do to make people laugh! Or, if you’re feeling particularly cheeky, you can do to make your child chuckle…

1) Mr and Mrs Egg: Funny egg faces for a breakfast giggle!

What you’ll need: hard-boiled eggs, egg cups, felt tip pens

What to do:

1. Hard-boil some eggs, and leave the shell on.
2. Once cool, let your little one draw some funny faces on the shell. (We strongly recommend you do hard-boil the eggs, or this could get messy!)
3. Let your child pop their new egg pals in the egg cups, and have fun introducing them to the family at breakfast time!

2) Can’t take my eye off you: put googly eyes on everything!

What you’ll need: googly eyes

What to do:

1. It’s easy peasy! Simply send your child off to put googly eyes on stuff…
2. Let them try Dad’s toothbrush… Mum’s breakfast bowl… on a banana…
3. Then they wait for unsuspecting family members to find the eyes. Tee-hee-hee!

3) Brownie points: A tasty treat… NOT!

What you’ll need: brown paper, pencil, scissors

What to do:

1. Tell your child they can fool your family by offering to make them some brownies… but actually, they are brown Es!
2. They draw the letter ‘E’ a few times on brown paper and cut them out.
3. Then lay them on a plate and serve! Ha ha ha!

4) Looking silly: Who can make the funniest face?

What you’ll need: your silliest, funniest, craziest faces!

What to do:

1. Pull funny faces with your little one.
2. Whoever laughs first loses!

5) Laughs on the loo: Silly messages to make toilet time fun!

What you’ll need: toilet tissue, pens

What to do:

1. Unravel a roll of tissue.
2. Get your little one to draw lots of funny pictures and messages.
3. Roll the tissue back together, and leave it on the holder for an unsuspecting family member to find.

We hope you have a super silly, fiendishly fun April Fool’s Day together… but watch your back! You don’t know what your little one already has planned! Tee hee hee!
