This simple salt dough craft is perfect for toddlers. Children can have fun with the sensory activity of mixing the dough. Then give them biscuit cutters to shape it how they like. Plus, there are tips for a speedy way to dry the salt dough in the microwave.
First prepare the salt dough using this basic recipe and then use it to make the monsters.
How to make salt dough monsters
- Roll the dough to about 1cm thick. Gove your child biscuit cutters or a plastic knife to cut it into shapes. Or, children can shape the dough with their hands.
- Dry the dough in the microwave. Blast it for 10 seconds at at time, checking often, until it’s dry. This will take about 1 minute.
- Give your child paints or washable felt tips to decorate the monsters.
- Add googly eyes and draw on smiles.
