Super spider and snazzy snail!

Are you wondering what to do with the conkers your child brought home? Before you trip over their collection (or squirrel them back outside!), use them to create these easy Autumn crafts.

Is your child jamming conkers into their pocket every time you go to the park? And we can just imagine the look of  horror when you suggest they get rid of a few! If this sounds familiar, you’ll love these two simple ideas. And while they’re busy crafting, you can have 5 minutes for you.

1. Turn a conker into a snazzy snail

What you’ll need:

  • A conker
  • Paint
  • Play dough
  • A pipe cleaner
  • Googly eyes

What to do:

  1. Ask your child to blob paint onto the conker while you trim the pipe cleaners to make antennae.
  2. Can they roll the play dough into a sausage to make the body?
  3. Then, they just squish the conker onto the body, poke on the antennae and stick on the eyes.

2. A conker craft that's great for Halloween!

What you’ll need:

  • A conker
  • Paint
  • 4 pipe cleaners
  • Googly eyes

How to do it:

  1. Ask your child to paint the conker and then glue on googly eyes.
  2. Help them to twist the middle of the pipe cleaners together to create a sort-of 8-legged star, and then bend each leg so it all stands up.
  3. The idea is you’ll be able to rest and glue the conker in the middle of the pipe cleaners legs.
  4. Time for a super spidery fun!
