We love Godstone Farm

Farm animals, pumpkin carving, a 3D-immersive experience and weatherproof play barn – Godstone Farm is the perfect half term day out!

Written by Sara Conway

How do you like to spend your family time? I’m a get-everyone-out-of-the-house kind of person, which makes the October half term challenging. Autumn – it should be crisp. More often, it’s dark and drizzly. The park’s wet. The TV beckons… which is why I LOVE Godstone Farm. This family day out feels outdoorsy but there’s a healthy amount of indoor fun to help you dodge the elements. And this autumn there’s a special half term event – Wiglet’s Great Spook-er-ree – to keep kids busy!

Outside, kids can let off steam and visit goats, llamas, lots and lots of pigs, ducks, horses and donkeys. There’s an adventure playground with an all-weather toboggan. Plus, the swings look out over the Surrey Hills so there’s a natural feast for your eyes while you fill your lungs with clean country air.

Inside, kids can pet rabbits and guinea pigs, there’s a play barn with café attached so your creature comforts are taken care of, and – this half term – there are special spooky activities. Kids can carve a pumpkin (that’s the Halloween house decorating taken care of!), play trick-or-treat games and take part in an immersive 3D experience complete with ghostly holograms.

Plus, you can stay on into the evening for Low Bang fireworks displays on 31 October and 1 November. As a mum to a sensitive toddler, I know that the excitement of fireworks soon turns into a screaming fit if the display is full of bangers. Low Bangs has been created especially for younger and more sensitive children – all the magic, with less noise.

Now I know how we’ll be spending our half term – I’m ready! I just need to figure out where I stashed everyone’s wellies.
